PRESS RELEASE FROM BEES UNITED

Bees Utd, the supporters trust which has a legal right to buy the club from current chairman Ron Noades by September, launched the campaign to raise the money so it can match all the financial obligations needed to take over the running of the football club.

And the reaction in the first four weeks of the drive has gone so far beyond all expectations that it is now lengthening the time limit. "The fans have given us a magnificent response," says Bees Utd chairman John McGlashen, the fans representative on the main Brentford FC board.

Last weekend, for instance, Bees Utd joined BIAS (the supporters club) on a sponsored walk through the borough - and one fan even took his Labrador dog along. "She got more sponsorship than I would!" he explained. The event raised over £3,000 towards the appeal.

"We are looking at every single idea put to us - and believe me, the fans so far have come up with dozens of ideas to help," adds John. "They have kept up a continual flow of ideas to help us all towards our ultimate goal - saving, and then running, the football club."
