Having sufferd a 3-1 defeat in the final game of the season, Tranmere condemed Brentford to a bottom of the League finish to compund misery for the West London Football Club.

Having reached the playoff semi finals for the last two season, 2006/07 marked an end to Brentford's spell in League One and according to Caretaker Barry Quin 'gives Terry Butcher a lot to think about.'

Showing significant quality to defeat Port Vale at Griffin Park last week, Brentford were hoping to gain the point they needed to overtake Rotherham but it wasnt to be and Quin admitted that he was sad to have been in charge as Brentford hit rock bottom,

"It is very disappointing yet again - it was not the way we meant to end a season. We made it difficult for ourselves by conceding early goals through our own mistakes."

"We did not want to finish bottom but the wheels came off yet again."

Quin continued,

"We clawed our way back but then yet another mistake put paid to us. We tried to get as many players in the shop window for new manager Terry Butcher to have a look at. He now as an idea of what he will be working with."
