Brentford claimed a solid victory today infront of a buyant Rochdale crowd who must have felt after The Bees club form they had a chance. A penalty just before half time however was enough to win the game for the League One side, after the game several of the people involved in today's game agreed to speak to us...


What the Manager said?

Martin Allen told the press he was pleased today as the rub of the green appeared to go Brentford's way. His sides confidence despite the home teams pressure also delighted the manager,

"The boys performed as I'd asked them today. The result wasn't overly convincing but at least we won through in the end, that's all I can ask for"

"The performance prehaps wasn't much better than our second half last week but at least we defended with some kind of order and confidence"

Allen was delighted by his sides efficient work and he congratulated them on not becoming complacent despite their tag of favourites,

"Many times last season we were underdogs and we came through, in this tie the roles were reveresed and I think the players conducted themselves excellently."

What the players said?

Marcus Gayle was delighted by the boys attitude and application,

"I think we were on top today for large periods of time and it's a shame we didn't add to our lead."

"It was pleasing that we didn't crumble under some great pressure from Rochdale, credit must go to them for keeping the game tight."


What the fans said?

Sam Watson told me,

"I think the victory was deserved today, I have to say that the performance wasn't that great but at least we can dream of a great tie in the next round."

Rochdale fan Dalian said,

"Brentford were the better team today, their quality showed through as did their experience. Before the game I figured we had a hope but the goal came at a killer time."
