Ian Harte replied for the visitors with a hotly-disputed penalty after Brentford defender Leon Legge challenged the onrushing Scott Dobie in the box.
"I'm very, very happy with the squad and all the players have reacted superbly since we had a slight dip in form before the end of last year," said Scott.
"I asked them for a reaction and they have given it. They are now beginning to establish themselves as a very good, hard to beat side in this division."
Meanwhile, Scott described the penalty which handed Carlisle a brief lifeline and led to Legge being booked as an "extremely poor decision".
