Smith: Champion goalkeeper
Paul Smith, the current Brentford goalkeeper, has been voted by the Bee Hive readers as the best goalkeeper the club has had since 1978.

The 23-year-old star, who agreed a contract extension last week, to end speculation of a possible move to the FA Barclaycard Premiership, obtained 32.8% of the vote.

In second place was the man Smith replaced, Oli Gottskalksson. The popular Icelandic stopper, whose Brentford career was cruelly ended by a serious shoulder injury, polled 26.2% of all the votes cast.

In third place was 1970s legend, Len Bond. The consistent Bond, for whom many older readers will remember with great affection, received 18% of the vote.
