Sam scoring last season believes Brentford fans will be joining him in celebrations in May 2006
A shining light last season Brentford defender Sam Sodje has alot to live up to in 2005/06. With their League form wavering at the moment defender Sam believes that Brentford have nothing to fear this season in chasing a playoff place,

"We're not scoring goals right now, but that's not just the strikers it's the whole team. When we get the goal scoring form back I think our performances will improve."

Sam spoke on his joy that Brentford start to the season has been a direct of not losing their confidence despite last seasons playoff defeat,

"Everyones working hard towards the same goal, it's pleasing to see"

"It's not happening for us right now but it's going to sooner or later, we have confidence in ourselves. We just need to go into training and put it right."

Sodje echoed his managers thoughts at disapointment of not scoring in the last three games,

"They weren't necessarily bad performances but hopefully we can get back to winning ways soon"

Sam comes from a well established family in English football with his brothers playing at Yeovil and Darlington and a nephew at Charlton. The player himself has been linked with a move to Premiership clubs but admitted that he is happy at Griffin Park,

"Obviously I'm eager to play at the highest level but during the Summer I spoke to the boss and he promised me that he would not hold me back if a bid came in but the final decision was down to me"

"I spoke to my family about this paticularily Efe and he said that I should do what makes me happy. Right now playing at Brentford makes me happy and I hope that I can succeed with them.

As far as this season goes Sam said,

"To be honest I dont think we're pleased with where we are as we've set ourselves high standards."

"We need to perform, it's easy for us to get up there but difficult to stay there. We've got some great players and I think we're a better side this season so hopefully we'll be able to bounce back"
