With much still up for grabs at the top and bottom of League One, the Football League awards highlighted the quality of football in this division by naming it's team of the year at an official ceremony on Monday.

With Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney picking up the main awards for Premiership player of the year and young player of the year respectively, those who were mentioned can feel greatly honoured to be featured in the same ceremony as two of England's young lions bidding to bring the world cup back this summer.

The team selected by a panel of judges, included Brentford's very own Sam Sodje in defense. The Nigerian has had an excellent season in the heart of the Brentford fan and he commented briefly,

"To be named amongst the top performers this season is a great honour."

His manager Martin Allen also said,

"Sam has worked hard this year and I think that is what has gained him this high praise."

The team in full is:
Flahavan (Southend)
Halford (Colchester)
SODJE (BRENTFORD)
Barrett (Southend)
Roberts (Tranmere)
Danns (Colchester)
Robinson (Swansea)
Maher (Southend)
McIndoe (Doncaster)
Trundle (Swansea)
Sharp (Scunthorpe)
