Sodje to go 'South' as battle over his signature begins

Leaving the stadium after the defeat to Swansea in the playoffs Brentford fans would have expected that this would be the final chance to see certain players in action, who was to know however that the manager would leave before certain parities.

With Jay Tabb's exit imminent, it appears that defender Sam Sodje could also be granted a move when he returns from holiday.

The defender said the other day that he hopes to be given a chance to play at a higher level, stating his intentions of being selected for Nigeria again as a reason for wanting to leave.

Sodje was offered the chance to leave by ex-bees manager Allen during the january transfer window but turned the move to Southampton down citing 'the wrong time' for turning his back on the Championship club, presumably Sodje felt that the club had a chance of becomming a 'top level' side themselves, but after hitting the turf with exausted disapointment just over a month ago, the Nigerian hopes to get a move away from Griffin Park.

It appears after his announcement that Southampton and newly promoted Southend are both willing to splash the cash in a bid to land the 27 year old who has been attracting interest due to his impressive performances under Martin Allen.

A fee of around £500,000 to £750,000 is being readied by both teams but Brentford will be hoping to hold out for as much as possible in a bid to calm spiraling debts as Greg Dyke himself said last week,

"If anyone leaves during the Summer I will be doing my upmost to get the best price for Brentford Football Club."
