Southampton sign defender Dickson

Southampton and Brentford are yet to a agree a fee for the player and Saints claim it is likely the sum will have to be set by a tribunal.

"I know all about Southampton and it is a great club. It's been through dark days, but things are turning better," Dickson told the club's website.

"There were Championship clubs interested in me but I can see the potential here, even though we are a division below."

Dickson made 95 appearances for the Bees, scoring three goals, after making a loan move to Griffin Park permanent in January 2008.

The Cornish-born defender, who can also play on the left of midfield, has previously been at Torquay on loan and was at Plymouth as a trainee.
