Swindon sign Bees 'target'

Bees appear to have missed out on Cureton due to financial restrictions
Swindon Town this morning completed the signing of ex QPR forwards Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe in an attempt to replace Sam Parkin who joined Ipswich on Wednesday.

Brentford had been rumoured to be looking at the potential of bringing Thopre in but has expressed a distinct interest in 29 year old Cureton, a player who Allen had worked with at Reading.

"We'll be looking at the potential of bringing another striker" said the boss a couple of weeks ago.

"As Jamie has just been released, I wont rule out a move for him but there are some big clubs chasing him so we may miss out financially"

This seems to be the case as Cureton signed onto a two year deal this morning with the Robins.

The Swindon manager said,

"There isn't a striker out there who could fill Sam's boots, so I've gone with two who can guarantee us about 25 goals a season. We've been lukcy to get both of them, as they both had many offers on the table."

This transfer deal has only increased speculation that the Bees could bring back Deon Burton as cover for Owusu, Rankin and DJ Campbell.
