As the players of Brentford returned to pre season training yesterday, it was fair to say that it was a completely different scenario to the one in which they could have possibly contemplated three months ago.

After the heartbreaking playoff defeat and the subsequent changes in management and personel, many of the players who represented Brentford throughout 2005/06 are now plying their trade elsewhere because of circumstances surrounding the departure of Martin Allen and the apparent lack of funds available to the club for wages.

Aside from Allen, the one major departure of the Summer (so far) if Jay Tabb. The midfielder was placed on the transfer list by Martin Allen before he handed in his resignation because he wanted to play at a higher level.

Despite talks with new boss Leroy Rosenior, Tabb felt that his future lay elsewhere,

"I spoke to Leroy when he came in about the situation and he understood my wishes."

"When Coventry came in I was delighted because I know of their manager and his reputation is an excellent one. I'm looking forward to settling down and applying myself to a new challenge."

Tabb confirmed that his move was only motivated by Brentford's failiure to achieve promotion,

"It was a very, very tough decision after six years to leave. I knew deep down it was time to move on, although if the right move hadn't come up for me, I would have had no problems staying."

In a full interview on the official website Tabb spoke about some of his memrable moments as a Bees player and said,

"I've had six great years here. The fans have been great to me. Brentford football club will always be in my heart, and my first club, I hope that one day in the future I will be back in the red and white shirt. I'm gutted we didnt achieve promotion in my time at Griffin Park, but I wish the players and the fans the best for next season"
