TERRY BUTCHER'S POST-MATCH COMMENTS

Terry Butcher spoke to the press following Saturday's defeat
at Hereford, and said that although confidence is low in the
team at the moment, the dressing room remains united.
Butcher: Determined

"There wasn't much in the game and we'd had a chance through
Alan Connell just before they scored. But we gave away two
goals where you have to say it is disappointing from our point
of view but good movement from their point of view.

"They are a side that is full of confidence and obviously
we're not. We had one or two chances before they scored but we
didn't capitalise on them. We had to dig in during the second
half and while we changed things around it was too little too
late again.

"They've got good strikers; players who are on top of their
form at the moment and their team has probably played together
a lot more than our team, which was playing its first
competitive match together.

"We're still in the process of trying to get a blend that's
going to get us results. Confidence was high at the start of
the season and now its not. I'm not blaming this on our
confidence though; there are other things we need to look at
and we will.

"We've had a good long chat with the players in the dressing
room and we have to work this out together and we will do. The
dressing room is united, there are no problems there.
Pead: Competitive

"Near the end we had a problem between Lee Thorpe and Craig
Pead. I wouldn't call it a lover's spat but it was really -
they live together! It's because they both want to win the
game. It's not a lack of discipline or anything like that.
They want to win.

"We have to keep working hard and I'm still convinced we can
get it together and get on an unbeaten run. We have players
who have good ability but we've got to show it more as a team.

"This league is all about being together as a team. Hopefully
we've got the platform in terms of the experience coming back
and we can all work together and be the team we all know we
can. We'll work on it and I'm sure we'll get it right.

"Charlie Ide came off with his shoulder injury last week and
he's still got a spasm in the muscle. He can hardly lift his
arm. He's struggling to get any sort of movement in his arm
which obviously affects his running but hopefully he will be
back in training next week. He's really the only one injured
in the squad now.

"The message to the fans is stick with us. Yes, it was an
experienced team today but hopefully the more it plays
together the better it will become. You look at this league
and we're well capable - as any team in this league is - of
going on a good unbeaten run and that's our aim and ambition.

"The boys gave everything in terms of effort and there was a
lot desire and hurt men in there today because we haven't won
the game and we normally take to away games quite well. We're
not in a good position at the moment and it's going to take
everyone's effort to get out of it and I'm confident we will
do.

"We have a squad here that has won and knows what that feels
like, but now it is losing and that doesn't feel nice. We want
to get back to that sweet feeling of winning and that means a
lot of hard work."
