Brentford may have had time to recover from their tremendously strength sapping game against Charlton in the FA Cup with no game until saturday's clash with Port Vale, but one member of the Bees squad didn't have such a luxary.

However it wasn't so much of a situation, more of an honour for left footer Sam Tillen who playes 45 minutes this week for England as an under 21's representative squad took on their Italian equals at the KC Stadium on Tuesday.

Tillen started at left back for the specially selected team and put in a good performance before being relaced just after half time by Hull manager Peter Taylor who was in charge of the team.

The current England under 21's manager and championship coach said,

"I thought Sam Tillen's cross in the first-half was absolute top-drawer and he played very well."

Though he was not on the pitch for the England goal by Dextor Blackstock he was still delighted to be part of the sucessful national team. Speaking in an exckusive interview he said,

"It was a privallege to play, never mind start. I never expected to be even selected when I heard the game was taking place. It was an amazing experience and I hope this will put me in with a chance of being selected for the official U21's team."

Tillen did however admit that even he was a little star struck by his team mates,

"It was a great honour to be playing alongside the likes of Lita and Welsh, players you see lining up every week in the Championship. The high quality of football that was played gave me a taste and a hunger to succeed with Brentford this year and be competing week in and week out against those kind of footballers"
