Was Wally right to release Martin Rowlands?

When the news came through on Friday morning that the club had decided to release midfield maestro Martin Rowlands, a veteran of 149 appearances and 20 goals, the question on the lips of most Bees' supporters was:

SHOULD WALLY DOWNES HAVE LET ROWLANDS GO?

Whilst it has to be said that the sometimes volatile Irishman did have his detractors, should Brentford not be trying to keep their most prized possesions, including that of the mercurial playmaker.

Rowlands was out of contract at the end of the season and there had been plenty of rumours about him wanting to leave and not getting on terribly well with the manager.

However, there is another train of thought. A number of supporters feel more should have been done to keep the undoubtedly talented midfielder at Griffin Park.
