WHO HAS BEEN BRENTFORD'S BEST STRIKER IN THE LAST 25 YEARS?

Congratulations to Dean Holdsworth, who has overwhelmingly been voted by you, the readers as the best Brentford striker since 1978.

Holdsworth, currently plying his trade at Nationwide First Division Club, Coventry City, polled 41. 5% of the vote, twice managed 24 league goals in a season in the early nineties.

On the second occasion, Holdsworth's goals were the springboard for an ultimately successful challenge for the old Division Three championship, which resulted in the Bees' elevation to Division One for the 1992/93 season, following the league reorganisation at the end of the previous season.

Second in the poll was the prolific Steve Phillips, scorer of 32 league goals in Brentford's Division Four promotion campaign back in season 1977/78, who managed to obtain 16.9% of the vote.

And in Third place was Lloyd Owusu, whose goals especially last season so nearly propelled the Bees back into the Nationwide First Division, with Brentford just missing out after a 2-0 play-off defeat to Stoke City at the Millenium Stadium.
