Brentford had to survive a major scare to beat Barnet on penalties after an amazing 3-3 draw at Underhill.

Guy Lopez fired Barnet into a sixth-minute lead before Soloman Henry's 34th minute penalty doubled their advantage after Joel Kitamirike had handled the ball.

Jay Tabb pulled a goal back for Brentford in the 52nd minute before they had Ben May dismissed for violent conduct.

Barnet were themselves reduced to ten men when Mark Cumberbatch was sent off for a professional foul - Stephen Hunt equalising from the resulting penalty with six minutes of normal time left.

Tabb then gave Brentford the lead in the eighth minute of extra time only for Liam Hatch to grab a shock equaliser for Martin Allen's side in the 104th minute.

But it was the league side who held their nerve in the shootout, with Hunt, Kevin O'Connor and Michael Dobson all on target to clinch a 3-1 success and a place in the draw for the second round.
