Brentford and Plymouth shared the spoils in a disappointing goalless draw at Griffin Park.

The Bees came out of the blocks the quicker of the two sides, but the first opportunity fell to the visitors after six minutes when a David Norris 20-yard snap-shot went just wide of the left hand post.

Five minutes later, a long throw by Michael Dobson was flicked on by Ed Hutchinson and Rowan Vine saw his right foot effort go just wide of the left hand post from 12 yards out.

At the other end, a Michael Evans 25 yard dipping strike was well saved by keeper Paul Smith after 14 minutes.

The visitors almost broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when a mistake by Scott Marshall left Marino Keith clear, and his left foot strike from the edge of the box beat the keeper and hit the right hand upright, but rebounded back into the keeper's arms.

Brentford's best effort came on 21 minutes when a Vine strike from just inside the box was parried by the keeper and claimed at the second attempt.

Three minutes after the break David Friio headed over following a free kick crossed into the box and six minutes later a 30-yard Steve Adams strike was brilliantly turned aside by keeper Smith for a corner.

The Bees best chance of the game came 13 minutes from time when Steve Hunt, only eight yards out, woefully missed the target with a right foot effort.

Four minutes from time, Vine was booked for a foul on Worrell, and deep into injury time both Stephen Evans and Norris were both booked for a tussle on the half way line
