A last-gasp strike from Blackpool skipper Peter Clark cancelled out Lloyd Owusu's earlier penalty as the visitors boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop while denting Brentford's chances of automatic promotion at Griffin Park.

In an overall disappointing first half chances were few and far between with neither goalkeeper forced into any real action. The first notable chance arrived in the 18th minute when right-back Sam Tillen let fly with a speculative 20-yard strike that saw Lee Jones in the Blackpool goal clawed away. Moments later Owusu broke clear down the right flank though Jay Tabb miscued this centre when it seemed a goal was on the cards.

The visitors hit back almost immediately from a swift counter attack though Gareth Williams having been put through by Keigan Parker could only find the side netting.

Keith Southern then let fly with two long range efforts but Bees keeper Stuart Nelson just about dealt with them.

The second half was only nine minutes old when Tabb clean through on goal was brought down by Robert Edwards. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Owusu made no mistake sending Jones the wrong way.

Alex Rhodes then came within inches of doubling the lead but saw his volley smack the woodwork.

They did survive a scare a few minutes later when Ciaran Donnelly failed to convert Williams' cross but at the other end Isaiah Rankin went down in the box after a winding run that the referee waved play on.

The home team had further chances to make the point safe but paid for their misses when with just a minute remaining a ball played into the box found Clark who fired in a low angled drive into the far corner.
