Brentford win in styleBrentford put a difficult week off the pitch behind them in perfect style as they beat high-flying Bournemouth 3-1.First half goals from Jonathan Douglas and Alex Pritchard - and a late strike from Chris Long - were enough to put The Cherries to the sword in an action packed encounter that saw The Bees move within four points of their opponents.But the away side could have won at least point after both sides carved out a host of opportunities that could have tipped the match either way.The hosts showed no evidence of being unsettled by the news that boss Mark Warburton will leave the club at the end of the season, as they played with great endeavour from the first whistle.And Brentford got a reward for their early efforts in the ninth minute, when a neat passing move worked its way to Douglas, who took a touch before firing an effort beyond Artur Boruc from eight yards out.Despite the setback, the visitors started to grow into the game and fashioned the space for Simon Francis to drive a low effort that David Button comfortably saved.Bournemouth were level on the half-hour mark after another flowing passing moveGood build up allowed Marc Pugh to get space in the penalty area and although his first effort was deflected on to the post by Button, the midfielder followed in to prod home the rebound.The home side continued to flood forward at every opportunity and nearly went back ahead when Andre Gray rounded Boruc, only to see his tight-angled finish scooped off the line by a desperate Steve Cook slide.Just as it looked like the teams would go in for the break level, Pritchard whipped a 45th minute free kick over the wall and towards Boruc, who could only pad the ball downwards and into his near post.Bournemouth, who knew a win would put them top of the table, came out re-energised after half time and were close to drawing level when Callum Wilson escaped the attentions of James Tarkowski to force Button into a point-blank save.Substitute Ryan Fraser was next to go close to levelling the scores
The winger cut inside to send a fizzed shot against Button's near post and then stretched to hit a second attempt into the side netting.Brentford were coming under heavy pressure and Fraser was denied again after being played in down the right.Button was in the thick of the action and was called on to stop a clever Wilson flick when it looked as the former Coventry City striker was destined to equalise.The Bees continued to pose a constant threat on the counter attack in the dying minutes and eased the nerves in stoppage time when man-of-the-match Pritchard teed up Long to add a third
