Brentford 3-1 Sheff Utd- Match Report

Grigg double downs Blades

Will Grigg scored twice on his home debut to help Brentford to a 3-1 win over Sheffield United.

Grigg's brace added to Adam Forshaw's strike to maintain the Bees' unbeaten start to the season and inflict a first league defeat on new United boss David Weir.

Forshaw's goal came with 10 minutes before the break when he was allowed space on the edge of the penalty area to curl a right-footed effort past goalkeeper George Long.

A frenetic second half started with Conor McAleny going close to doubling Brentford's advantage, before Blades defender Neil Collins headed home a corner to equalize.

Grigg restored the hosts' lead shortly afterwards, firing a pin-point McAleny cross beyond Long.

The game was won in the 76th minute when Forshaw showed quick feet to get his shot away, which Long could only parry for Grigg to pass into an empty net.

The former Walsall striker's day could have been even better, but he missed a penalty for his hat-trick after Harry Maguire had tripped him in the box.
